Who We Are

Paul Bullen has run Management Alternatives Pty Ltd since July 1988, a management consultancy business specialising in work for community based, non-profit and church organisations especially those providing human services or doing community development and the health and education sectors.

He also works with government and government agencies on projects where they are working with community based and non-profit organisations or doing community development work.

Paul Bullen is the Managing Director. Support staff are employed for specific projects.

What We Do

Services include:

Facilitation

Facilitation of workshops and conferences including 1 to 2 day planning workshops for groups of 10 to 50 people, 5 to 7 day planning and organisational review meetings of 50 to100 people and 1 to 2 day conferences for 100 to 300 people and facilitation of service and community development evaluation processes.

Planning

For organisations

Corporate and strategic planning for small (10 staff) , medium(10 to 100 staff) and larger organisations (100-500+) staff. Planning processes include facilitating workshops, meetings, reporting writing, staff surveys, etc.

For services and community development

Planning for human services and community development projects. Some recent projects include:

Paul Bullen

Paul Bullen has run Management Alternatives Pty Ltd since July 1988, a management consultancy business specialising in work for community based, non-profit and church organisations especially those providing human services or doing community development and the health and education sectors.

He also works with government and government agencies on projects where they are working with community based and non-profit organisations or doing community development work.

Previous Work Experience Prior to more than 30 years consultancy work he has previously been Executive Director of the Home Care Service of NSW (1985-88), Assistant Secretary of the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (1982-85) and a Research and Resource Analyst for (the then) Department of Youth and Community Services (1980-82). He has managed very large and very small organisations.

Publications and Papers In addition to many project reports he has had articles published in magazines and journals including Evaluation News and Comment, NCOSS News, Developing Practice & the Journal of Applied Behaviour Science. He has also given papers at conferences including the Australasian Evaluation Society and NCOSS.

Boards and governance He has been a member of a number of Boards and has worked with many boards on governance and strategic planning.

Academic Background He has an academic background in social science (social work), philosophy and theology. He has specialised in planning, evaluation and research.

Professional Memberships He is a member of the Australasian Evaluation Society and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and is eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
