Vision

Vision For Vietnamese women to be able to integrate into Australian society.

Mission

The Vietnamese Women's Association assists Vietnamese women with their settlement needs and the process of integration into Australian Society while supporting them in keeping their Vietnamese cultural values. It does this by providing a range of services including referral, casework, English classes and community development.

Needs

For newly arrived Vietnamese women migrants to improve their English language skills.

Aims

For newly arrived Vietnamese women migrants to improve their English language skills and improve their confidence so they are able to better integrate into Australian society.

Objectives

Over the next 4 months for 30 Vietnamese women to significantly improve their language skills and level of confidence in relating with Australian services and organisations, in particular sufficient English to obtain work, be able to find rental properties, find suitable schooling and understand their rights.

Strategies

Liaise with TAFE Outreach to organise English classes
Liaise with job networks and employment agencies to provide professional services
To seek support from the Community Liaison Officer of the Department of School Education

Outcomes

The majority of the Vietnamese community will speak English adequately in order to obtain work and be able to find rental properties, find suitable schooling and understand their rights.
